National Pizza Day

Tomorrow is National Pizza Day!! Yes, there is a day that celebrates that deliciously versatile food we all love. Did you know the Romans were the first to make these flat breads with toppings? They layered bread and sauce and herbs on the top of bread. But the delicious slices as we know them were created in Naples, Italy in the 1700s. They used a flat bread and covered it with basil, garlic and cheese – the tomatoes came later!! In the 1800s Italian immigrants brought it to the U.S. and today it’s one of the most popular foods in the country!

In celebration of National Pizza day, many pizza places are giving huge discounts – and some even free pies! Or,  you can sit at home by a warm fire and cook up your own. Here are some ideas for you to build your day around pizza!
