Fried Pickles

Fried Pickles - I tried this southern favorite for the first time and fell in love with the snack.  After some experimentation, I came up with this really good recipe - that was eaten really fast!  I'll be doubling it next time!

Ingredients
  • 3 large dill pickles
  • 1/4 cup, plus 2 Tablespoon flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground, black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon cornmeal
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 Tablespoon water
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 Tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • canola oil for frying
Instructions
  1. Beat the egg with 1 Tablespoon of water.

  2. Mix the spices, ¼ cup flour and cornmeal well.

  3. Slice the pickles into thick slices.  Dust with the 2 Tablespoons of flour.

  4. Dip into the egg mixture, then coat with the seasoned flour.

  5. Carefully place pickles into the fryer basket, being careful not to crowd.

  6. Fry each slice until golden brown.

  7. To make the dip, mix the ranch with the horseradish.
