love a basic burger – no fancy dressings. But -I have been told by the cardiologist I need to loose weight, and so in response, I have joined weight watchers. As those of you who follow this blog know, I also love to eat. Now that is the dilemma! I’m in the mood for a big juicy, just your basic burger. But then I calculated what it would cost me. Hmmmm – What to do….

but regular olive oil works too

split into four .75 oz. slices

light mayonnaise

Spinach and Arugula leaves

Heat the olive oil in a grill pan or cast iron skillet. Reduce heat to medium.

Mix the garlic, salt and pepper well into the ground turkey and split into four patties.

Cook in the hot oil until cooked completely through (don’t eat rare poultry please!) and it is lightly browned. Just before they are done, top each turkey patty with ¾ oz. of sliced cheddar.

Toast the muffins.

Lay the cooked turkey burger on top of one half of a muffin – repeat with the other three. Add the tomato, onion and leafy greens. Spread ½ Tablespoon of mayonnaise on the top piece of muffin and close the burger.
