Creamless Slow Cooker Pea Soup

image_pdf

I love soup this time of year – and the best soup is the one that is ready when you get home and has filled the house with wonderful smells! And this split pea soup does exactly that!

And it’s just so easy!

Here’s How to Make this Pea Soup:

Place all the ingredients into the slow cooker.

Make sure the stock not only covers, but sits above the ingredients (except the ham hocks).

Turn the slow cooker to high for 30 minutes, the reduce to low. Cook for 8-10 hours.

Pull the meat off the ham hocks and stir. Serve with a little sour cream or plain Greek yogurt on top – and a dusting of smoked paprika if you like! Some warm garlic toast is perfect on the side.

Recipe Notes

I used "better than bouillon" to create the stock base. You can also substitute chicken or vegetable stock in place of the water and bouillon.
