Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs

Today is National Hot Dog day!!  What better way to celebrate than with….

NationalHot DogDay (1)

The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council in the USA designated today National Hot Dog Day (it changes each year) to celebrate the humble dog.  Many communities have events to celebrate and some retailers offer free hot dogs!  So lets celebrate the humble Hot Dog!

All you need is 2-3 slices of bacon per dog, your favorite toppings and some buns!

Wrap the dogs well in bacon – IMG_7264

Fire up the grill and cook them on medium-high until the bacon is crispy – but watch them!  That bacon fat flares up and fires start – we got a couple of charred dogs!

Remove from the grill and serve –

I’m a hot dog purist – mustard and onions and few slices of pepperoncini.  The dog is served.

My husband on the other hand likes the Chicago dog – pickles, tomatoes, onion (but he leaves off the peppers).

So get out those dogs and bacon and grill up some celebration!

Happy National Hot Dog day!
