Moving to the third pasta of Rome – Carbonara
Back in January we started on a tour of the four pastas of Rome. The first one, cacio e pepe, is the foundation of the four, so that’s where we started. Then we moved to pasta alla gricia.
This week we cover the last “white” sauce – as simple as the first two and similar, except for the addition of eggs.
The weather sure made a turn around!! We actually hit 60 degrees one day! We got some yard work done and enjoyed walks in the sunshine. It’s really giving me spring fever. However, I’m guessing it’s a false start.
I’ve got my seeds all ready to start at the end of the month. Lots of tomatoes and peppers. I see see salsa this summer!!
But for now, we’re still loving soups and stew – and winter fires. What are you making for dinner these days?

Pasta alla Gricia – the second pasta of Rome
Last week we started on a tour of the four pastas of Rome. The first one, cacio e pepe, is the foundation of the four, so that’s where we started.
This week we’ll talk a little about the second – pasta alla gricia.
I love seafoam candy. When we take a trip to the beach, I always have to stop at The Chocolate Frog to get some. It’s a real treat! But who knew it was so easy to make!
I love snow; I love winter; I do not love ice! We’ve had inches of ice for days and now we have, quite literally, inches of rain in our backyard. Ready for a swim?
And all this is making me excited that Spring is just 52 days away!! It’s time to start planning those seed starts for my veggie garden. And I’m so ready to get outdoors to work in the dirt!
And in the meantime, I’m planning dinner for these cold and rainy nights. What are you making?
